November 17, 2018 – The Masungi Geopark Project site welcomed employees of 3M Philippines and 3M Global Service Center Philippines as part of their Global Volunteer Day activity. Through the Legacy Trail, the participants contributed to the reforestation activities being carried out on site.
A total of 190 tree saplings were planted and nurtured by the 3M volunteers. The group also learned about the process of mulching: a technique often done to aid in the plant’s growth and maintenance.
After the activities, the group was rewarded with Minalot meals amidst a beautiful backdrop of the hills and floating huts. The humble yet delicious rice meal prepared by local community members was served in an organic setting alongside home-made blue tea made of butterfly pea flowers.
Through Masungi Georeserve’s Nurture-A-Grove Project, companies like 3M are now able to connect with nature and directly contribute to the healing and rebuilding of the denuded mountain.
