October 4, 2019 –  Training Center for Tropical Resources and Ecosystems Sustainability (TREES) conducted a 5-day training course on Visitor Management for Forest and Nature-based Destinations highlighting the concept and principles of responsible visitor management in sustainable tourism planning and implementation. In line with the training, various Protected Area Superintendents and members of the Philippine Eco-Guides Association visited the georeserve to learn about destination branding and how to properly manage visitors. National Bookstore, Masungi, distribute 8,000 school kits to local students

Students raise school supplies shared by the National Bookstore Foundation & Masungi Georeserve Foundation August 22, 2019 — National Bookstore Foundation, Inc. (NBSFI) and Masungi Georeserve Foundation Inc. (MGFI) collaborated to distribute school materials to partner elementary schools around the georeserve. Some 4,000 students received two school kits each through ‘Project Aral’, a back-to-school initiative that aims to solicit learning supplies for students living in remote areas of the country. Among the partner schools involved were San Roque Elementary School, Upper Kilingan Elementary School, and Pinugay Elementary School in Baras, Rizal. Tamaraw Rangers of Mindoro visit Masungi

March 8, 2019 – Masungi Georeserve invited the park rangers Tamaraw Conservation Program (TCP) of Mindoro for a learning exchange session on conservation and sustainable tourism practices. TCP rangers are in-charge of protecting the remaining tamaraw population in the mountainous regions of Mindoro. With only 28 park rangers monitoring around Mt. Iglit National Park, they managed to successfully grow the population of the endangered tamaraws from about 100 to around 523. March 24, 2019 – Masungi Georeserve welcomes foreign students of the Asian Institute of Management (AIM) – Dr. Andrew Tan Center for Tourism and senior high school students of Holistic Education and Development Center (HEDCen). 3M Philippines and 3M Global Service Center Participates in the Nurture-A-Grove Project

November 17, 2018 – The Masungi Geopark Project site welcomed employees of 3M Philippines and 3M Global Service Center Philippines as part of their Global Volunteer Day activity. Through the Legacy Trail, the participants contributed to the reforestation activities being carried out on site. A total of 190 tree saplings were planted and nurtured by the 3M volunteers. The group also learned about the process of mulching: a technique often done to aid in the plant’s growth and maintenance. Sharm-El-Sheikh, Egypt— Masungi Georeserve was recently honored as a global model for conservation innovation and excellence at the inaugural Pathfinder Awards presented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), the World Commission on Protected Areas (WCPA) and WildArk. Union Bank participates in Masungi’s Nurture-A-Grove Project

Last November 9, over 30 employees of the Union Bank of the Philippines Manila and Metro West Regions’ Retail Banking Group contributed to the reforestation activities being carried out on the greater Masungi Geopark Project site. Through the Legacy Trail experience, the participants were immersed in a tree-planting activity and contributed a grove of saplings to the area’s growing forest life. Minalot meals prepared by local community members were served afterwards as a reward to the volunteers for aiding in the restoration and reforestation of the once barren area.
