3M Philippines and 3M Global Service Center Participates in the Nurture-A-Grove Project

November 17, 2018 – The Masungi Geopark Project site welcomed employees of 3M Philippines and 3M Global Service Center Philippines as part of their Global Volunteer Day activity. Through the Legacy Trail, the participants contributed to the reforestation activities being carried out on site. A total of 190 tree saplings were planted and nurtured by the 3M volunteers. The group also learned about the process of mulching: a technique often done to aid in the plant’s growth and maintenance. Masungi wins global conservation award from UN, IUCN

Sharm-El-Sheikh, Egypt— Masungi Georeserve was recently honored as a global model for conservation innovation and excellence at the inaugural Pathfinder Awards presented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), the World Commission on Protected Areas (WCPA) and WildArk. The awarding ceremony was held during the plenary session of the 14th Conference of Parties of the UN Convention on Biological Diversity in Sharm-el-Sheikh, Egypt on 17 November 2018. Union Bank participates in Masungi’s Nurture-A-Grove Project

Last November 9, over 30 employees of the Union Bank of the Philippines Manila and Metro West Regions’ Retail Banking Group contributed to the reforestation activities being carried out on the greater Masungi Geopark Project site. Through the Legacy Trail experience, the participants were immersed in a tree-planting activity and contributed a grove of saplings to the area’s growing forest life. Minalot meals prepared by local community members were served afterwards as a reward to the volunteers for aiding in the restoration and reforestation of the once barren area. Baras, Rizal – Leaders of the two organizations signed a Memorandum of Agreement formalizing the partnership between Masungi Georeserve Foundation Inc. and the Philippine Army Jungle Fighters for the protection and reforestation of Masungi and surrounding forest lands. Six high school students complete Masungi Georeserve internship experience

Students from Sampaloc National High School’s Technical-Vocational-Livelihood (Tech-Voc) Track and General Academic Strand (GAS) recently concluded a once-in-a-lifetime internship experience at Masungi Georeserve. The internship included exposures in the Discovery Trail, Silayan Dining Room and Administration. The program focused on hands-on training and conservation education for the next generation of sustainability leaders.
