STARGAZING AND ASTRONOMY AT MASUNGI

Take a chance with the skies at Masungi. A customizable stargazing version of Celestial Nights designed for larger parties, there are three ways to spend the evening: a vehicle-accessible stargazing area for those who prefer a gentler pace, a short 30-minute hike to one of our rock peaks for stargazing, or a combination of both — accessible wonder with an optional ascent for those who want more. For those looking to hike, choose between making it to the 600-step climb to our highest peak along the Origin Trail and watch the sky transform — golden yellows bleeding into twilight purple as the sun surrenders to night or join a guided night hike through the Discovery Trail, where the forest comes alive with the sounds and sights of nocturnal life. Otherwise, simply settle in, let the breeze do its work, and let the stars find you. Each evening is its own. On serendipitous nights when the skies open up, you'll be rewarded with stars, constellations. On overcast evenings, the night turns inward: read the stories written in the stars, learn the language of astronomy, and reckon with the scale of the universe and our small, luminous place in it. Every experience closes with merienda — traditional kakanin rice cakes — and a minalot dinner prepared by our community partners.

◦ Nanay - Awaiting you after a trek through winding paths and hanging bridges is the embrace of one of our peaks and her 180° view of the sky, as featured in the classic Celestial Nights Experience. For groups with at least 28 guests and above on weekdays and 42 guests on weekends. (Required hike)

◦ Tanawan - Take in the landscape reaching far beyond Laguna de Bay, and soak up the stars with the earth at your backs. For groups with at least 14 guests on weekdays and above, and 28 guests on weekends. (Optional hike) (Private vehicle required)

◦ Pasukan - View the Metro Manila skyline against the backdrop of brilliant sunset hues, and the city lights mirrored by the starry sky. For groups with at least 14 guests on weekdays and above and 28 guests on weekends. (Optional hike)

Guided Stargazing Session with experts
Choice of Traditional Meriendas:
◦ Puto Bumbong - A Filipino holiday delicacy made from steamed purple glutinous rice, traditionally cooked in bamboo tubes and served with butter, and grated coconut.
◦ Bibingka - A soft, rice cake baked in clay pots lined with banana leaves, topped with butter, salted egg, and cheese.
Choice of Minalot Meals:
◦ Grilled Chicken Minalot - a local meal of grilled chicken, steamed rice, grilled tomato, grilled eggplant, pickled onion and cucumber, with salted egg on the side, and biko as dessert.
◦ Fish Fillet in Coconut Cream Sauce (Pescatarian) - consists of Tilapia fillet with coconut cream sauce, steamed rice, and seasoned vegetables including water spinach, with biko as dessert.
◦ Tofu Steak with Stir Fried Rice (Vegetarian) - comprises tofu steak, stir-fried rice with sesame oil, water spinach, and grilled sliced eggplant, with biko as dessert.

Trail visits must be arranged at least two (2) weeks ahead of the intended date of visit. Should you wish to visit the Georeserve on a weekend, it is highly recommended that these be arranged at least three weeks in advance.

Kindly fill in all the details in the registration form:
- For your preferred date and time, kindly choose your schedule in the calendar (5:00 PM, 5:30 PM, 6:00 PM, 6:30 PM).
- In the remarks section, kindly provide your choice of package (hike/no hike, venue location) merienda, and meal of choice. You may choose from the options above (one per person). Kindly also include in the remarks section your second preferred date and time. Please ensure your availability for both your first and second options as approval of the dates would depend on the availability of our partner experts.
After submitting the form, kindly be on standby for the approval email along with the corresponding payment details within forty-eight (48) hours, excluding Mondays.
Full deposit of conservation fee is required to secure the date and time.
The requested slots are kept for the guests twenty-four (24) hours after the sending of the approval email. Conservation fees must be settled during this time via the bank deposit/online banking options.

Conservation fees may be settled by bank deposit/online banking or through credit card (through the Paypal Platform). Kindly be advised that there is an additional 4.4% + PHP 15.00 charge for payments done through the Paypal platform. Registration with Paypal is not needed to do this. Details on how to settle your conservation fees shall be provided upon approval of your visit request.

Good to Know

On certain nights, the guided stargazing session may focus on the moon instead of the stars, depending on the visibility of celestial bodies. Additionally, there may be evenings when the sky is obscured by clouds or rain. In such cases, an alternative activity will be provided—a presentation led by experts held in a covered area between rock peaks, to continue the exploration and appreciation of the stars.
For groups with or composed of foreign guests, kindly be advised that the spiel will be delivered in Filipino.
Guests are required to use red light when traversing the trail. If there are any visually impaired guests in attendance, kindly inform our team in advance so that we can make the necessary arrangements to accommodate their needs.
This experience is a Private Trail composed of 14 guests. We may accommodate smaller groups with the minimum group fee retained as the total conservation fee.
Rescheduling requests due to weather concerns may be accommodated when done at least two (2) days prior to your request. Requests may be rescheduled twice for a period of one year from the original date of visit.
